Cardiology, with a special focus on the heart’s electrical system.
Dr Ng is a consultant cardiologist and electrophysiologist practising in Johor. His work spans coronary artery disease, heart failure and the diagnosis and treatment of abnormal heart rhythms.
Electrophysiology is the branch of cardiology concerned with the electrical signals that control the heartbeat. This includes conditions such as atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia and slow heart rhythms.

HOW WE CAN HELP
Care for your heart and its rhythm
Explore common reasons for consultation and the investigations or treatments your specialist may discuss with you.
01Heart assessment & monitoringChest discomfort, breathlessness, palpitations or dizziness+
An assessment starts with your symptoms, medical history and examination. Tests may include an ECG, echocardiogram or ambulatory ECG monitoring, depending on the clinical question.
ECG and echocardiography
Holter and extended rhythm monitoring
Cardiovascular risk assessment
The appropriate test and monitoring duration depend on your symptoms and individual circumstances.
02Coronary artery diseaseAssessment and treatment of narrowed heart arteries+
Treatment may involve medication, risk-factor management and, for selected patients, coronary angiography or angioplasty. Your doctor will explain the expected benefits, risks and alternatives.
Coronary angiography
Angioplasty and coronary stenting
Intravascular imaging and assessment of complex coronary disease
03Heart rhythm disorders & ablationAtrial fibrillation, SVT and other abnormal rhythms+
Rhythm monitoring helps identify the cause of intermittent symptoms. An electrophysiology study can assess the heart’s electrical activity. Catheter ablation treats selected abnormal electrical circuits or triggers.
Atrial fibrillation assessment and management
Electrophysiology studies and catheter ablation
Assessment of supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias
Ablation is suitable for selected patients. Outcomes and procedural risks vary with the rhythm problem and your overall health.
04Pacemakers & cardiac devicesSupport for slow rhythms and selected heart failure conditions+
Cardiac devices have different roles. A pacemaker supports certain slow heart rhythms, an implantable defibrillator treats selected dangerous rhythms, and resynchronisation therapy can help some patients with heart failure.
Pacemaker assessment and implantation
Implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICD)
Cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT)
Device checks and follow-up
05Heart failure & preventionOngoing care tailored to your risk and condition+
Long-term care combines appropriate medication, follow-up and attention to factors such as blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, smoking and physical activity.
Heart failure assessment and follow-up
Cholesterol and blood pressure management
Individualised cardiovascular prevention
Investigations and procedures depend on clinical suitability and availability at the treating hospital.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Before you visit
What is the difference between a cardiologist and an electrophysiologist?+
A cardiologist assesses and treats heart conditions. An electrophysiologist is a cardiologist with further training in heart rhythm disorders and treatments such as ablation and cardiac devices.
My ECG was normal. Can I still have a rhythm problem?+
Yes. A standard ECG records only a short period. If symptoms come and go, your doctor may recommend a Holter or longer monitoring to try to record your rhythm during an episode.
Do I need to stop my medicines before the appointment?+
Continue your prescribed medicines unless your treating team has given you specific instructions. Contact the hospital if you are unsure about preparation for a scheduled test or procedure.
